I had originally intended all the jumpers except J1 to be soldered wires with J1 left as open pads. This would be the normal configuration used m= ost of the time. Soldered wire jumpers are more reliable and won't have intermittent or noise problems, especially when in series with the power supply. The normal usage of this board wouldn't be to go back and forth between configurations, so I figured someone would either leave the jumpe= rs alone or cut them once and leave them that way. The manufacturer install= ed jumper blocks for a few of these even though they were all listed the sam= e on the BOM. Oh well. > So, I'll just connect 5V from the USB connector to one of > the 5V rails in the proto-area then, right ? Yes, after J3 is cut. And keep in mind that USB power is rather loosely specified on the device end. It could be just a little over 4V worst cas= e if I remember right. The minimum guaranteed voltage is definitely below = the 4.5V level which is the minimum required by some digital chips. ***************************************************************** Embed Inc, embedded system specialists in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, http://www.embedinc.com --=20 http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
