But it is very easy to install packages using apt-get or synaptic.

But be careful of any kernel update!

Next version of Ubuntu is just 2 weeks away. One very good
thing about Ubuntu is that it is really free! You can get the
CD shipped to your place for free. I have not tried this though since
broadband download is faster.
