I have checked it myself on a recent 16F876 and it appears to follow the datasheet. I am referring to a PICLIST message dated 23 March 2002 from Thomas McGahee titled "A/D errata for 16F876" where the author says that in ADCON1 PCFG mode 0100, RA2 is enabled A/D instead of RA3.
