Is it possible to use a 56k v.90 external modem with software handshaking? I have an idea for a cheesy hack. You can add two serial ports easily to the Linksys wrt54g/wrt54gs wireless routers, but it is TxD and RxD only, no control signals. For a friend who only has dialup available but would like ethernet/wireless internet access in his house with dial on demand. It's easy enough to setup, install openWRT linux on the router. The last time I used a modem with software handshaking it was 1200 baud connecting to a BBS, so I have no idea if a 56k modem on a PPP connection will work with software handshaking. Ideas?
