Anyone used one of the non-contact IR thermometer to find leaks in their house?

The talking heads on TV say winter fuel prices are going to be through the roof. :-)

Does it still take an expensive IR camera to do an energy audit or can I do it with
a handheld IR thermometer or an inexpensive IR sensitive camera from X10?
