The thing is that we don't have any (data) infrastructure in place to do this. The only one we do have in place is tracking money only... according to the paradigm that this would reflect a summary of the "worth". Which it obviously doesn't... I think something like an accumulative "resources used" data set with every sold item would make sense. Not necessarily terribly precise, but a lot better than what we have now.
