There is no law that the simple dongle I show on my wesbite *must* be used. You can use the same trigger signal to switch the Vdd to the target, but maybe you would still need to a short to remove any leftover charge. So no change to Wisp628 is required. But If I make a new design I would indeed provide separate signals for switch-off and for shorting.
