Hi ... not exactly, I've been doing electronics freelance for 3 years. However I've done a lot of designs and the process has evolved quickly; most of the designs are for runs of 25 or less. So I've mostly managed to avoid the time-sink of dealing with all the little details and back-and-forth with contract assembly houses when doing production runs. I would imagine that in a salaried position in good-size company things happen quite differently, where 500+ runs are the norm and there are a lot of established procedures and tools and legacy to deal with.
