using the sk key v3.10 i programed an sx28 (never used, fresh out the box) through an oscillator on one of my pcbs and removed the sx key. devices are soldered to the pcb (no sockets). there is a 1uf cap between the sx and sx key port. i made some changes to my program. connected the sx-key to my sx-key port. and received the [i]sx-key not found on com1[/i] message. tried it 3 times or so while powering the ckt before i insert the sx key and after and received the  [i]sx-key not found on com1[/i] message. i desoldered the oscillator. inserted the sx-key and received the [i]sx-key not found on com1[/i] message. tried it 3 or so times as before and [i]sx-key not found on com1[/i].

i plug the sx key into my sx tech programming board (no other devices are wired to the sx) and  [i]sx-key not found on com1[/i]. i notice the led dimming, check the sx28, and it very hot. i try again.  [i]sx-key not found on com1[/i] and the sx28 gets very hot. i notice that the sx-key is warm, not hot.
 
i search the forum for help. i tried Guenther's test for echo via hyperterminal trick and the characters do not echo and the timer on hyperterminal freezes for a few seconds. 


is it time to order another sx-key?
if so, what may have caused the problem?
