Money would also be a placeholder for the less "negative" goals in life - comfort, security, self worth, providing for your family, etc. Pursuit of money at the sacrifice of other important values is bad; if you don't sacrifice other values, money is just a measurement tool. I have very little faith indeed in philosophies that equate mere poverty with "goodness." Like ANY other value, chasing money out of balance with other values is harmful, but it's not really a harmful value on its own!
