In SX Microcontrollers, SX/B Compiler and SX-Key Tool, PJMonty wrote: Steve, Because of this thread, I too have thought about what it would take to add a plugin architecture for watches. The main issue is that aside from Peter(pjv), this is the first time I've ever seen this issue come up. When Chip Gracey designed the SxKey, he put in support for watches of the following data types: signed and unsigned decimal from 1 to 16 bytes long signed and unsigned hex from 1 to 16 bytes long signed and unsigned binary from 1 to 16 bytes long fixed length strings zero terminated strings It's not like there are tons of other data formats that really need to be displayed. The whole idea of adding floating point support to the list of supported watch types is a bit tenuous since the key is designed to debug at the assembly level. Adding a plugin architecture is an interesting idea, but I doubt it would get used for much more than than adding floating point watch support by Peter(pjv). It would also open up a whole Pandora's box of potential problems since someone could write a badly coded watch plugin that causes the IDE to become unstable or crash. You then get into the whole issue of who is at fault, etc, and cause tech support to go crazy trying to diagnose problems caused by the 3rd party plugins. Yikes!
