hello, I want to connect a (single) 3V eeprom to a 5V PIC. Philips has a nice application with 2 (or 4) FETs, http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/news/backgrounders/bg_esc9727/ but for hobby I like to keep things as simple as possible. Now I read something quiet confusing to me, about the "SMbus", slew rate control (SSPSTAT<7>). If I look at parameters D0034A and D0044A, choosing the SMBUS could solve the problem very easy, because then the PIC input levels change to 0.6 and 1.4 V. Which is perfectly in match with the 3V eeprom. Now I have 2 questions: 1. how should I set SSPSTAT<7> to enable the SMBUS definitions ? 2. choozing the SMBUS has of course a quiet bad noise margin. Is there any practical experience with selecting the SMBUS definition on a PIC ? thanks, Stef Mientki -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
