Zilog supply ANSIC with their extremely well priced developments kits . (There may be a good reason for this :-) ). BUT the developers get paid a per registered copy fee by Zilog. They are freely available and free to the user but not free from the developer. While I do completely agree with your principle, who would pay for PC-compatibles development tools?
