given that person-suction is only good for a few psui at very best, it 
suggests that a very modest head of water in a tank above it would do 
the trick. Forcing water in may possibly alter the mechanical aspects 
compared to sucking it out.

This is rated at 300+ person-days of water so it would do the trick, 
apart from small issues such as  Giardia :-(. Filter and boil sounds 
desirable.
