Swallows, and some other birds, seem to be awfully complacent about where they make their nests. At Lake Shasta Caverns, there seems to be a family of swallows that makes their nest on the boat that crosses the lake - some 10y ago there was a nest in the eaves of the awning; this summer it seemed to have moved to underneath the deck. It's sorta neat to see mom/pop swallow flying back and forth to the boat (with food?) as it moves across the lake. Also, we had a bird family that made its nest for several years in the boxes of junk we have well inside our garage; they especially seemed to like the little crevices that tend to form in boxes of books and magazines of unmatched size...
