When visiting in '88 we followed the coast road from LA to SF, visiting a number of missions along the way - along with spending the best part of a day at Hearst Castle. The mission that sticks in my mind is not so much the mission itself, but rather the earthquake fault line that is about 10 feet behind the back wall of the building.
