I have friends who live in San Juan Capistrano, and > I've visited them at least once a year for > the past ten years, but I've never been to see the Mission! Perhaps > next time I should do so... They tell me that it's about the best of the remaining Spanish Missions. I have seen few others to compare it with but it is superb. A feeling of another age. Very tranquil and beautiful. It also happens to be the location where the Capistrano Swallows are deemed to return to each year after their long flight from South America. fwiw the piano at which the related song was composed on is on display in the mission. Not what I went there to see by any means but interesting. Across the road there's a 'more than usually authentic' Mexican takeaway which is worth a visit.
