Hello everyone, was wondering if someone here might be able to help. Due to some issues I recently had to change ISPs. I always have things up so changing ISPs is quite painless, a few config changes on my network and everything is right as rain. Until this time... For years I've used sendmail with smarthost set, since ISPs filter out incoming and outgoing port 25 connections. So, I set smarthost, and everything works out fine. The problem now is my latest ISP requires, aside from using their SMTP server, AUTH as well. How do I configure sendmail to use the AUTH type of connection for outgoing emails? I've googled and tried a few things (set an Auth line in the /etc/mail/access file, recompiled the config scripts, restarted sendmail), but a recent Ethereal trace shows sendmail is still not sending the AUTH command. Any ideas? This sounds like something pretty simple, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. Note I'm not interested in setting AUTH for INCOMING emails, only for outgoing emails. Thanks in advance for any help.
