Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of any papers and/or standards detailing the implementation of speech 
compression on 8-bit audio data with an 8-kHz sampling rate?  I've seen the Microchip 
App. Note on ADPCM, but that deals with 16-bit audio, and I'm not sure how to modify 
this to work with 8-bit data, although I'm sure it can be done.  Namely, I don't know 
what values I would use in StepSizeTable[] and IndexTable[].  Any help or suggestions 
would be greatly appreciated.
