There's HiTech's PICC Lite http://htsoft.com/products/PICClite.php Doesn't support the 16F88, but a few others and maybe one of them is similar enough so that you can use it: 16F877, 16F877A, 12F675, 12F629, 16F627, 16F627A, 16F684, 16C84, 16F84 and 16F84A Differences are likely to be in the configuration fuses, so it's probably best to set them manually in the programmer/MPLAB.
