That is cool! Allow me to introduce Giles NEWTON (my great, great, great, great, great grandfather) http://www.piclist.com/techref/other/newtons/wc01/wc01_051.htm Born 1735 Henrico County Virginia. Henrico or "Henricus" is one of the earliest English settlements in the "new world." First set foot on by Captain Christopher Newport and his company (Captain John Smith, George Percy, Esq., Captain Gabriel Archer, and about 20 others) in 1607, the first permanent settlement was established by Sir Thomas Dale in 1611. 5' 10" 180 lbs ruddy complexion, dark hair and blue-grey eyes (I'm an inch or so taller, but otherwise...) "...He and his two sons, James and Younger, served as patriots in the war of the revolution..." He or his parents most likely came over from England. There just wasn't anyone else in that region at the time. But I haven't been able to find the connection. Any advice on old ship records? Other than google or the geneology sites of course. --- James. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
