A while ago there was a good discussion regarding the Linux operating system. As a result, I got all fired up and dragged all my old computers out (my wife says I am being a packrat -- I say I am thrifty. Why throw away a perfectly good computer??). To make a long (and interesting, IMHO, but perhaps not in the opinion of others) story short, the choice of which system to install eventually narrowed down to Fedora Core 4 and CentOS (which is really Redhat Enterprise). Of those two, FC4 would install on some of the systems but not on others. CentOS installed on every one of them with no problem whatsoever. All systems are now up, networked, and happy. MORAL: FC4 is more cutting edge, but CentOS is more stable.
