I think the software as they initially intended to give it away was finished HOWEVER a lot of potential customers where to their surprise ticked off about all the limitations in the package. They had to think of something else quick and it's probably not that simple to remove limitations or add them in to the full version. Obviously they still dont intend to give away the full package.
