"BS2 with or without an RS232 level translator? " Um, I don't know. It is an old BS2 from way back when they were newish. I am sorry, I should have been more clear on what I meant by "4800 baud 8,n (non-inverted) " I know that n does not stand for non-inverted. I meant, 4800bps, 8 data bits, no parity, non-inverted. Then camera blocks are no addressable. When the dome camera sends commands that are exactly as the PDF describes them. I can sniff the data sent from the dome to the camera block using the above baud settings. So I would think I should be able to send the exact same data from the BS2 using the exact same Baud settings. But that does not work for some reason. > I finally got the PDF to download. Sloooowwww Sorry, my cable modem's upstream can get all choked up sometimes. :-) > > Seems to be a very simple protocol. > Set your port to 4800,N,8,1. > Send commands using hyperterm. > They must be prefixed with ":" or "/". They are case sensitive. > You can send only ONE command per field. e.g 1/50 or 1/60 second. > Zoom commands require 6 fields spacing. Being the camera is RS-232C and that it seems to need non-inverted data, I suppose that totally rules out directly connecting a PC com port to the camera doesn't it? > > The camera will echo back all commands. > Do you SEE the echo?? If not, then it's not listening to you. I will set it up so I can monitor the echo and I will post my results here. > Are you using the correct baud rate since the camera can > be commanded to change baud rates? I am pretty sure I am using the correct baud rate because I have not tried to change it and I am able to sniff the data the dome cam sends using the above baud rate that the camera does respond to. -Dan > > Dan Gliebe wrote: > >> Does anybody here know anything about camera blocks and sending >> serial data to them?
