As much as I hate to say it, "it could have been worse" - it appears that the ads they are using are Google AdSense text ads, which are far less offensive than their animated, Flash-based brethren. I'm wondering, though, if they're even allowed to do that with the Google ads. I recall their terms of service being rather stringent.
