Well... after poking around the Alibre and Alibre Xpress sites I'd have to conclude you are right about Alibre Xpress being Adware.=20 This is most disappointing even though it really doesn't affect me personally.=20 I think Alibre has made a big mistake using adware in any shape or=20 form. It sucks with Opera and Eudora and I don't use either of them and=20 never will. It does appear they may have some nominal registration fee to get rid of the adware (like Opera and Eudora). If it were available and I liked the software I might choose this route. Still, they created unreasonable expectations with the way they "sold" the software and I think killed any goodwill they may have generated in the process. I didn't get the impression that any functions are crippled but some=20 functionality is definitely missing vs. Alibre Design. I fully expected=20 that and I think any of the users who paid for the Alibre Design=20 software would be pretty upset if they didn't. What I was hoping they'd=20 do is give away the current Alibre Design 8.x software as the "freebie"=20 and require users to pay to upgrade to the upcoming 9.0 version. That=20 would seem to be a logical and fair thing to do. That way new users=20 would get real 3D modeling and expose Alibre to a lot of new users and=20 still possibly entice them into upgrading to newer and better software.=20 Silly me, I guess that's why I'm not the marketing director at a software company! Hmmmm. I'll wait to see how this plays out but I am going to post a comment on the Alibre site and let them know I think they made a big mistake in how they handled all this. I have been a big proponent of Alibre up until now. I'm not sure if I still will be after this mess.
