Peter, I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion but you can get the story right from the CEO's mouth:=20 http://www.alibre.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3D1315=20 I can also say that Alibre is a very reputable company. I've been a licensed user of Alibre Design Professional for about a year now and I've been very satisfied and impressed with how they do business as well as the quality and value of their product.=20 I hope they're successful with this strategy -- god knows someone needed to do something to break the "workstation" mentality of CAD vendors with regards to price and licensing policies.=20 I bought Alibre Design because I needed to do 3D modeling in my one=20 person consulting company and couldn't justify a huge cash outlay with=20 a large maintenance charge per year just to keep the software active.=20 Even Solidworks have priced themselves out of my reach, nevermind=20 ProEngineer. Alibre fit the bill, works great and I can afford it. It=20 does about 99% of what Solidworks can do, some things Solidworks can't=20 do and (according to users who are well versed in both) is easier to learn and use.=20 I don't expect to ever see adware or crippled software from Alibre, it simply isn't their style and I don't think they'd risk their reputation as a top notch software vendor. I think in this case, they are simply "thinking outside the box". I say good luck to them and hope they succeed.
