Have you found that GPASM is a tenable replacement for the Microchip toolset? The only thing I've been booting to windows for recently is MPASM. I heard rumors about an open source C for the 18F series, any word on that? I used JAL for a while, but found its support a little iffy for the 18F (no offense, Wouter), though it's probably gotten better since then.
