That's very true, although personally I've never got the hang of drawing
anything of any complexity with the keyboard. There is another aspect
too. ASCII art could easily be included verbatim (or edited) in a reply

Although with some replies to the "London subway" thread weighing
in at nearly 30kB of UNTRIMMED TEXT I'm not sure that's always
good thing
