Oh. When people talked about things beyond W98 being difficult to use, I assumed they were complaining about "no direct IO instructions to the uart from user programs" issue... Complexity in the application doesn't bother me much; as several people have said, it's something you deal with once... Having to have a user install special device drivers that explictly defeat windows 'security' is a more serious "problem."
