Hello, Sorry to take up bandwidth on non-PIC topics, but I know there are a lot of list members who are hams, and several have experience with audible aids for the visually impaired, so I figured this would be the best place to start. Anyway, I have a blind cousin who is tremendously interested in radio. He is currently an intern at a radio station while studying at a local college. I was thinking that his getting a ham license would be right up his alley, but I need to know what/where to get study materials for him. Audio tapes would be prefered, I don't know if he has internet access (but he does have a PC with the capability to convert text to sound, but as I understand it, it's far from perfect). I did find the Courage Center Handi-HAM website. Prices seem far too low, but perhaps there is government funding involved. Any comments on the usefulness of the materials they sell? Alternatives? And lastly, any website recommendations that describe/evaluate different transmitters? I don't know where to begin, I just need to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks for your time.
