It wasn't here that this link was posted, eh? http://www.emissiontechnologies.com/xy.htm CNC laser cutter kits as low as $9000... ● Laser Output Power: 50 Watts ● Overall Table Size: 60" Wide x 40" Deep ● Usable Cutting Area: 24" x 48" ● Resolution: 3000 Steps / Inch ● Range of Feed Rates: 0 to 300 Inches/Minute ● Maximum Material Thickness: 1.0"/25mm (With Cutting Nozzle Fully Raised) ● Power Supply: 120 Volt 60 Hz or 240 Volt 50 Hz ● Software: DeskNc Dos (motion control), DesKam 2000 (.dxf to G-code Converter) ● PC Interface: Parallel Printer Port ● Minimum PC Requirements: IBM Compatible PC running Windows 95 or 98 ● Laser Cooling: Flowing Tap Water @ 2 Liters/Minute In my experience, a lot of "small scale" industrial equipment such as smallish laser cutters appears from failed or ended businesses, and can be picked up at auction (eBay or otherwise) for a relatively small fraction of original price. But such equipment frequently has built-in assumptions about things like power (3 phase, 440V, etc), air, cooling, and "access" (YOU try moving a ton of lathe into a building without concrete up to an existing loading dock!)
