If you can live with a tolerance of 0.5degC then look at the DS1820 * no amps,ADC etc...and use only one I/O on the PIC * source code for reading the temperature from the device is all over the place * you can connect several DS1820 on the same wires. The DS1820 is relatively expensive, but might be cheaper than a dedicated circuit. I found it very reliable as well...
