I have been thinking about offering MAC addresses too. It is a bit more involved, because you need a MAC address for each individual thing you make. You need only one USB PID for each product type you make (or rather: for each different PC-side identity = driver). Get yourself some old ethernet cards, copy the ethernet address, and destroy the cards.
