And I like my PICKit 1 - the samples aren't the best (IMHO) and they make some confusing assumptions about what you know, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty fun - honestly though, I now wish those silly LEDs, button, and Pot _weren't_ on the board, and rather the connector on the side was hooked up to the pins on the PIC's socket in such a way that you could leave an external circuit hooked up and still successfully re-program the device (does that make any sense?). (Because now I have to disconnect everything from it every time I want to reprogram the chip, or I have to not use the connectors at all and keep moving the PIC around by hand (obviously not the best idea in the world and very inconvenient). But overall it was cheap, came with everything I needed to start, and can be instantly plugged into your USB port out of the box for a light-show. -Steve -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
