I don't know anything about how Windows handles dynamic disk volumes, but I know a man who does! Jan van Wijk, and his software DFSee, are extremely good at sorting out problems like this. You can do simple stuff yourself with the software, but when it gets tricky you contact Jan (after you've paid for the software, obviously!) and send him logs that DFSee produces, and he will advise on a course of action, often sending a script to fix the problem. You can use the program for a limited time without registering, but to be honest you are likely to need his expertise.
