What sort of filter would I use to eliminate large areas of uniform =
color but keep smaller areas?  I have a laser scanned across a frame and =
another frame without the laser.. Simply XOR'ing the data produced ok =
results but I wanted to improve on it by removing large patches of =
light..

I tried averaging a square inside a square, and if the smaller square's =
color was different from the outer square, to keep the color, otherwise =
turn it white. Logically to me it seemed it should work, but it didnt..

Any ideas?
