Those modules need a control board to run, and that's not a trivial project.
I did one in an AVR Mega-8, with minimal hardware to drive the 
stepper motor, but it had to be fed rasterized data.
That said, it went faster than the PC could send the data :)
Not bad for 832 pixels per line.
