I know a guy quite localy that has been doing a lot of robotics research using these things. Not much to them really, just a bit of what looks like the grey braided cable looming and a rubber baloon. Not convinced that pneumatics are ideal for mobile robots though, high pressure air cylinders are bulky and heavy and not so easy to recharge autonomously. Although...I wonder how energy density compares to decent battery technology?
