The advantage over RS485 is that you don't need to handle a driver enable
line, as the drivers for this bus are all always active (it's a wired-and
type bus, or an I2C-like bus, or however you want to call such a
structure).

Right. In the simple form as described on the page, the "line driver" is a
pull-up resistor on the line and decoupling diodes to pull the line down.
