I really don't see why people pay for a basic stamp, when they can buy a pic for about 50 timer cheaper, and download basic. Also, basic stamps only store about 256 instructions, as opposed to a PIC - several thousand. I mean, storing the program in a data EEPROM, now that's just dumn.
