If there's enough space I'd think pads (unpopulated) for the more common PITA connectors would be a good idea- maybe an extra (uncommitted) DB9 and RJ45? Or maybe run the existing serial and ICSP connections through a set of jumpers that could be cut to allow other uses to the connectors.
