Try an experiment: hold a phone (cellular or otherwise) against your ear for 15 minutes. Then remove it and have a passerby touch your two ears and see which one feels warmer. I can virtually guarantee that most people will detect warmth on the "phone side". Make sure you hold it tightly against the ear! It's the classical misunderstanding: causality versus correlation. The increased temperature would appear even if the user held a chalkboard eraser against his head.
