I use my PS+ on a USB port via a cheap usb-serial lead I picked up from Ebay Works fine and I've never had any problems with lost communication/errors etc. The usb-serial lead has its own driver and the win2k machine I run sees it as COM3 - the MPLAB software just transmits the info to this port and job done. I think Microchip recognizes this situation. Surely I'm not the only one trying to communicate to a PicStart+ from a laptop that only has USB serial. How is it done ?
