Is the device selected in MPLAB the correct one for the hex file?  If
it is wrong, it may refuse to import the hex file, and keep the old
one, hence the same checksum.  Also, if the device is correct, you
could try programming the hex file to a chip, and check MPLAB is
actually importing the hex correctly.  If all else fails, you could
upgrade (or downgrade) your MPLAB
