Just tried using File Import with a totally separate project, and the checksum did not change. What's going on is my client has the hex files I delivered to them. They are now looking at having a chip distributor program the chips for them. The distributor wants to know the checksums. I'd like to get the checksums of the actual hex files instead of recompiling, since there may have been minor source code changes since then (or even updates to the compiler which results in different optimization) which can cause a checksum to change. It SEEMS I should be able get the checksum of a hex file out of MPLAB. Ideas? Thanks!
