The HP G85 printer, which caused me to start this thread a few weeks ago just snuck through my screens and gobbled up another colour cartridge. The HP el-cheapo someone-has-refilled-my-cartridge detector strikes again. The Force is strong with this one. Cloaking seems to still be effective on the black cartridge which started all this but I know what the printer is thinking. I happened to have a spare colour cartridge evenings's colour printing won't be excessively damaged. So: That's it. Enough. Gone next week. To be replaced probably by a Canon, but I'll have another good look at latest offerings from others. That's the last HP printer I expect to buy in this lifetime, and there will be a few other people who I persuade not to buy them as well long the way. Unless Agilent stage a successful takeover bid for HP and bring them back to the Light side. Other HP products I'll take on a case by case basis. But the power of the dark side is pervasive and tends to permeate their other products, if only by association. At least there's still Agilent to carry the original flag. HP MAY just live on as a fax machine and occasional black only printer - at least until I use up the cheap black ink I have or until it works out how to kill the black cartridge. And it's OK as a scanner. RM -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
