Speaking of programming languages, the the techref page mentions XPL0 as a potentially useful language for PICs, but I no longer see any references to any microcontrollers on the relevant homepage, and the 'direction' they seem to be taking is decidedly non-micro :-( Is XPL0 for PICs (and etc) dead, or is there a new page somewhere where microcontroller interpreters and libraries are hiding? (it seems to me that for beginners, especially, the libraries and support functions provided by a language/environment are a lot more important than the semantic details of the language itself. This explains BASIC. Assembler by definition doesn't come with any libraries, but there's lots of sample code. C didn't catch on until the libraries started becoming more consistent across platforms. Non-standard languages like JAL or Parallax basic succeed largely on the strength of built-in or already-implemented functions...) Are there any other "generic" bytecode interpreters out there?
