All, I've got a programmer which I built early last year and used for a few projects back then but nothing recently. I just dug it out cause I need to get a project up and running however programming keeps failing. The programmer is from Jaycar Electronics and is a Kit of a project from the Australian Electronics Mag Silicon Chip. http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5367&CATID=&keywords=serial+pic&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID= http://www.siliconchip.com.au/cms/A_30668/article.html For programming software beacuse the programmer is JDM compatable i've been using ic-prog and im using it as an ICSP programmer however to avoid possible problems on my board im using a programming adapter with the 16F628. When i turn on the programmer the MCLR line instantly goes up to about 12.8V and remains this way regardless of toggling the test panel in ic-prog. Also PGD remains at a constant 5V as does VDD. I can remember last time I used it i tested it using this facility and the ICSP lines responded to the ic-prog test panel. I've even gone and got the free serial monitor program discussed recently and all i get from it is that ic-prog is communicating with the serial port. The programmer uses an internal pic but as this is my only programmer I cant exactly re-program it (not that I have the code but I may be able to get the hex..) Anyone have any ideas or experiances?
