If I had only black and white printing needs, I would get a laser printer. I have no experience of color printers except for inkjets so I don't know if color laser or something is good or not. As indicated by all the posts on this topic, there is no such thing as a cheap inkjet printer. Even if it is FREE. The manufacturers do not make money on printers; they make money on ink. You have to believe this to see the answer. The answer for inkjets is to research on the net and find a brand that you can add a bulk ink system to or at the least, refill your own carts. The vendors make it as hard as possible to do this on the lower end printers. Expect to pay (at least in the US) around 300 or 400 dollars for a good quality printer that you can pump bulk ink through. I have a c.i.s (continuous ink system) for my Epson; the ink is basically free. The ink cost is about 10 to 20 times cheaper than buying it in carts. The printer was $400 5 years ago. I have run the equivalent of maybe $1500 of ink through it based on cart prices. Do a search on continuous ink systems.
